Saying she does not wish to leave Wahnfried without telling her what a great joy her son [Siegfried] gave her, that the day before he manifested all the qualities of intelligence and character that in him are joined to a true artistic talent, adding that she is going to Switzerland for a rest; the letter is written on the back of a printed program for a performance at the Königliches Opernhaus on 5 August 1893, conducted by Siegfried Wagner, with selections from Richard Wagner's Rienzi, Weber's Freischütz, and Das war ich, a "ländliche Scene" by Johann Hutt.
